Raymond S. Perkins, Senior Advisor Consultant with Highland Capital Brokerage, brings 33 years of insurance industry experience to Highland.
Perkins previously worked at John Hancock as a National Sales Director for the John Hancock Financial Network (JHFN), then joined JHFN’s Mid-Atlantic Brokerage Agency as a Regional Brokerage Manager. In this role, he provided life and long-term care (LTC) solutions for the Virginias and Carolinas, finishing in the top five nationally each year during his tenure at JHFN. In August 2010, Mid-Atlantic Brokerage became Capitol Financial Solutions, providing products and services for life, LTC, annuities, and disability income (DI) insurance through all of the major industry carriers. Perkins became Assistant Vice President for Capitol in January 2012, but returned to Director of Brokerage Services in September 2013. Prior to joining John Hancock, Perkins worked for 5 years with AIG Life Companies, and 10 years at First Colony Life — later Genworth Financial — where he served in various marketing support capacities.
Perkins is a past member of NAIFA, NAHU, and IIABA, holds life, health, and annuity licenses around the country, and is Series 6 and 63 registered. He has been a certified continuing education (CE) instructor providing life and LTC-related CE courses, as well as the required eight-hour and four-hour Partnership LTC CE courses. Perkins also served on various national insurance-related committees with LIMRA, and was a featured speaker at many local and national industry events.
Perkins attended Lynchburg College in Va., obtaining his B.S. in Computer Science. He and his wife currently reside in Roanoke, Va., and are parents to two grown children.
