About
Maura Brown serves as Vice President for Highland Capital Brokerage. Brown started in the financial services industry in 1986. She specializes in financial, business, and estate planning, as well securing clients’ assets against the rising cost of care.
Prior to joining Highland, Brown spent several years developing financial advisors in their practices as a Managing Director with MetLife. During that time, she also served as the President of the local Life Underwriters Association, as well as the General Agent and Managers Association (GAMA). Brown attended the MetLife course on Advanced Estate and Business Planning at UCLA. She also spent several years as a Regional Vice President helping advisors craft solutions for their clients to protect their existing assets and efficiently transfer wealth to the next generation.
Brown holds the designations of Chartered Financial Consultant® and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). She holds her state insurance license as well as FINRA Securities Industry Essential, and the Series 6, 7, 9, 10, 26, and 63.
Brown was widowed at an early age and learned the value of having a solid plan in place firsthand. She is very passionate about making sure clients have a good understanding of how a long-term illness may affect their family and their ability to be financially secure into retirement. Brown believes that properly protecting existing assets against the various risks in retirement is the key to a well-funded retirement and to maximize wealth transfer to the next generation.
Brown raised a son, who at an early age, already has a solid financial plan in place. After the passing of her husband, Brown moved to Huntsville, Ala., where her son had established roots as an aerospace engineer.
